The carpooling agency “MiFaZ” arranges carpools online. To find carpools for their desired connections, users may place ads in the form of an offer (driver) or request (passenger), and search others’ ads via a map and a smart radial search.

MiFaZ focuses on commuter traffic, i.e. people who travel short distances recurrently. Therefore, we install MiFaZ Web sites specifically for districts, cities, and municipalities or companies. We adapt the service to the needs of the particular region by, for instance, centering the map on a participating municipality, and listing specifically those ads that concern the people living in the municapality. Still, people may search for long-distance connections just as well. They can find any entry searching from any participating regional MiFaZ!

Motivation

High gas prices, increasing traffic, traffic jams, pollution, noise, but also declining natural resources make it more and more interesting – from an ecological and an economic perspective – to form carpools. Studies have shown that a carpooling agency for commuters is a significant contribution to the reduction of traffic. Incidentally, not only the user the saves a lot of money, but also the city or municipality, which, in the long run needs to spend less on building and maintaining streets and parking spaces.

Willingness to Carpool

More and more, people realise the necessity of finding means to reduce traffic. Different surveys have found that at least 40% of cummuters are willing, in principle, to travel in carpools. Once people realise in addition that carpooling has social benefits, is fun, and can even improve the atmosphere at the workplace, they may get as excited about carpooling as we are.

Distribution Scheme

We distribute the MiFaZ service and technology as a module that each municipality or company can introduce in an individual design tailored the wishes of their citizens or employees. For this, our partners pay a low annual fee, depending on their size. For their users, the MiFaZ service is of course free of charge.

For example, a company may obtain a MiFaZ that shows first the ads of their employees, and only after that (if desired) all other entries.
